Trucks are their own problem

Body-on-frame vehicles hide damage well. A ladder frame can be tweaked at the rear with nothing obvious happening at the front, and the first symptom is a truck that crabs slightly down the road or wears the inside edge of one rear tire.

Work trucks around here also collect damage nobody reported. Hitching mishaps, plough frames loaded harder than intended, an impact taken years ago that nobody measured. We find that history when the vehicle goes on the bench.

What measuring produces

The vehicle is anchored and reference points across the underbody are compared to the manufacturer's data. Out comes a set of deviations in millimeters at every control point, which is a fact rather than an impression.

Pulling, within limits

Where the metal allows it, controlled pulls bring the structure back and readings are retaken between each one. Where the manufacturer marks a component replace-only, it gets replaced. High strength and boron steels are heat treated to crush in a designed way, and heating them to reshape removes that permanently while leaving the part looking correct.

Documented

Before and after measurements go on paper and stay with the vehicle. That matters at resale and it matters if anyone questions the repair later.
